EXFO offers FTBx-88480 400G dual-port field test module

Nov. 17, 2022
The module can test today’s widely used 100G optical transceivers as well as 400G transceivers as they are deployed in the network. A 112G electrical lane design further enables support of next-generation transceiver testing.

EXFO says it now offers the FTBx-88480, a dual-port test module for validating fiber-optic network circuits from 1G to 400G. Designed for use with EXFO’s FTB-1 Pro platform as well as on the company’s other portable and rackmount platforms, the FTBx-88480 is part of the company’s Open Transceiver System (OTS), which the company says ensures compatibility with future high-speed transceivers through the use of swappable modules.

The dual-port capability of the FTBx-88480 enables field technicians to validate two circuits simultaneously. The module can test today’s widely used 100G optical transceivers as well as 400G transceivers as they are deployed in the network. A 112G electrical lane design further enables support of next-generation transceiver testing.

Additional capabilities and features of the FTBx-88480 include:

  • The ability to validate network services (Ethernet, OTN, Fibre Channel, timing), rates (up to 400G), and interfaces (SFP, QSFP-DD and OSFP) via the same platform
  • Rapid validation of pluggable transceivers from 1G to 400G with EXFO’s iOptics automated, intelligent test application
  • A cloud-based, collaborative design that links all parts of a customer’s field test ecosystem in real time for optimized field testing, reporting, troubleshooting, etc.

“A key challenge operators face is how to ensure their network migrations are done reliably and cost-efficiently while staying nimble enough to manage existing infrastructure,” said Sophie Legault, director, mobile and cloud solutions at EXFO. “With the FTBx-88480 solution, we’ve combined the latest in 1G-400G testing with a flexible, future-proof architecture that lets our customers do more today and continue deriving value for years to come.”
