Softing FiberXpert 700 fiber-optic test kit aids Tier 1 multimode and single-mode fiber certification

Softing Inc. now offers the FiberXpert 700 Quad Multimode and Singlemode Testing Kit. The kit enables technicians to perform Tier 1 certifications for multimode and single-mode fiber links as well as print test reports directly from the PC software.

The FiberXpert 700 can be used to perform complete Tier 1 fiber link measurements, optical loss or power measurements, continuity testing, and other tests. It features automatic wavelength detection and data storage, which enables it to finish tests quickly and eliminate the risk of operator error, according to the company. It also will store up to 10,000 measurements in its internal memory.

Ease-of-use features include a link wizard to facilitate setup. The FiberXpert 700 will display Pass/Fail results directly on its high-resolution color LCD screen and comes with a rechargeable lithium polymer battery that will support up to 50 hours of operations.

Other features include:

  • Indium gallium arsenide (InGaAs) detector type
  • Calibrated wavelengths: 850, 980, 1300, 1310, 1490, 1550 and 1625
  • Measurement range: +5 to -70 dBm
  • Accuracy: ±0.15 decibels
  • Detector connector type: 2.5 mm/1.25 mm universal
  • Data storage: up to 10,000 data points.
  • Modes of operation: CERT, LOSS and OPM
  • Operating temperature: -10 to 55°C
  • Dimensions and weight: 72.9 x 112.3 x 31.8 mm and 12 ounces.
