Kingfisher unveils KI 27400 handheld two-way loss and length test set
Kingfisher International has introduced the KI 27400 optical loss test set (OLTS) with length measurement capabilities. The test instrument vendor says the OLTS is designed for ease of use and will display length as well as bi-directional and average loss in real time without the need to specify master/slave instruments.
A companion instrument, the KI 23400, that will provide optical return loss measurements will be available in the next few months as well, Kingfisher adds.
The KI 27400 requires a single test hookup and a key press per fiber to deliver bidirectional test results, according to the company. The same Autotest test procedure can be used for all fibers in the network, Kingfisher adds. Testing, accurate to 1%, takes only 5 seconds. The instrument can measure 24 calibrated wavelengths, ISO17025 traceable. The instrument features Kingfisher’s KITS reporting software for acquisition and reporting.
The KI 27400 has a 10,000-fiber memory and USB interface and comes with SC, ST, and LC interchangeable connectors. Kingfisher offers a three-year warranty and calibration cycle. Technicians also can use the instrument as a standalone light source and power meter, or tone generator/detector.
