Viavi Solutions Inc. (NASDAQ: VIAV) has announced several upgrades to various members of its end-to-end test instrument portfolio. The enhancements focus on improving performance for high-speed network test applications from product design, validation, and manufacturing, to fiber-optic network monitoring and inspection.

The new instruments and capabilities include:

  • The VIAVI ONT 800G FLEX DCO Module, which VIAVI asserts is the first fully integrated test product for pluggable digital coherent module development, validation, and integration of 400G CFP2-DCO and 400 Gigabit Ethernet (400GbE) QSFP-DD transponders, including 400ZR. The module provides a variety of test and measurement capabilities for manufacturers to aid in the design and validation of the new generation of high-speed pluggable DCO modules. The VIAVI ONT-800 Optical Network Test Platform with the 800G FLEX module earned a 4.0 rating in the 2020 Lightwave Innovation Reviews.
  • The MAP-300 Interface for IL/RL Testing with PCT solutions which, as the name implies, supports the Passive Component/Connector Test (PCT) application for insertion loss (IL) and return loss (RL) measurement on the VIAVI MAP-300 platform. The module speeds testing by 5X, VIAVI says. It can work with the PCT Control Center to enable a centralized testing ecosystem and test data integration and management across an entire manufacturing floor, the company adds. The third generation MAP-300 also was recognized in the 2020 Lightwave Innovation Reviews.
  • The OneAdvisor-1000 400GE Portable Network Tester extends the line of handheld metro test instruments with a unit that provides field technicians with a 400GbE test capability. It can be used in metro/core, submarine, and data center interconnect applications to cover requirements ranging from 400GbE to T1/E1.
  • The mOSX Module enables parallel processing to expand the LightDirect family of configurable optical test solutions in the MAP System.
  • An Onsite Calibration Service for Lab & Production Products applies to the VIAVI ONT and MAP portfolios and provides specialized verification and calibration services on customers' premises. Use of the service can eliminate the downtime and inconvenience associated with sending hardware for factory calibration, VIAVI points out.
