WIN Technology ups IP network capabilities with Ciena’s Adaptive IP portfolio

The regional service provider, focused on the U.S. Upper Midwest, will use the technology to increase network capacity, ensure performance, and more quickly roll out new Layer 2/Layer 3 services, says Ciena.

WIN Technology is moving to a 400G IP network using elements of Ciena’s (NYSE: CIEN) Adaptive IP portfolio. The regional service provider, focused on the U.S. Upper Midwest, will use the technology to increase network capacity, ensure performance, and more quickly roll out new Layer 2/Layer 3 services, says Ciena.

Based in Eau Claire, WI, WIN Technology operates a carrier-neutral, multistate telecommunications and managed services network of 15,000 miles to serve the needs of small and medium businesses (SMBs) and large enterprises. The company supplies clients in the healthcare, education, manufacturing, finance, and technology fields with network, data center and cloud, and IT offerings. To upgrade its infrastructure, WIN is deploying Ciena’s 5171 router and 8180 coherent networking platform as well as leveraging the technology supplier’s Manage, Control and Plan (MCP) domain controller and Adaptive IP Apps for automated traffic engineering as well as network and service monitoring.
