Lightpath plans more fiber in Miami

May 16, 2023
The additional fiber will complement Lightpath’s new fiber network in the Miami Central Business District (CBD).

Lightpath says it plans to expand its fiber network footprint in Miami. The fiber network services provider says it expects to deploy 65 additional route miles that will connect four data centers by the end of this year.

The additional fiber will complement Lightpath’s new fiber network in the Miami Central Business District (CBD; see "Lightpath to offer Miami metro connectivity"). The CBD network connects with data centers at 50 NE 9th Street (NAP of the Americas) and 36 NE 2nd Street (Digital Realty). Lightpath offers internet, Ethernet, wavelength, dark fiber, private network, and direct connectivity services in the district to major cloud services providers. The company also will offer access to its entire network of more than 20,000 route miles serving over 13,500 service locations, including more than 100 data centers and seven cable landing stations.

The 65 miles of new fiber routes will stretch to the north and the west of the CBD. In addition to the four new data center connections this year, Lightpath expects to add another five data centers on-net in early 2024.

"We are fully committed to the Miami market and the building out of a brand-new network here with brand new glass. The vibrant and rapidly growing business community in Miami deserves a new, modern fiber network that can serve the most challenging demands of organizations of all sizes, including Tier 1 enterprises, governments, educators, other carriers, and hyperscalers," commented Chris Morley, Lightpath's CEO. "Lightpath plans to build wide and deep in Miami and the surrounding region, with a goal of becoming the provider of choice in the market."
