Triangle Communications taps Ribbon for broadband network upgrade

Ribbon Communications Inc. (Nasdaq: RBBN) says it has won a contract from Montana’s Triangle Communications for the upgrade and expansion of the service provider’s fiber broadband network. Ribbon will supply elements of its Ribbon’s NPT IP Routing and Apollo Optical Transport lines.

Triangle Communications is the name under which Triangle Telephone Cooperative (TTC) and its subsidiaries provide communications services. The company’s fiber footprint encompasses 24,000 square miles and runs from Chester to Malta and from the Canadian border to the Wyoming border. Triangle Communications serves more than 16,000 subscribers in parts of 16 Montana counties.

The new technology initiative seeks to upgrade legacy transport and packet transport equipment to support higher-speed services.
