DZS adds DZS Xtreme Transport to Cloud EDGE portfolio
DZS (Nasdaq: DZSI) used last week’s OFC 2023 show in San Diego to add DZS Xtreme Transport to its Cloud EDGE portfolio alongside DZS Xtreme Access and DZS Xtreme Mobile. DZS Xtreme Transport leverages the recently announced DZS Saber-4400 coherent optical transport platform (a 2023 Lightwave Innovation Reviews honoree) to enable open, high-bandwidth, and low-latency optical infrastructure.
DZS Xtreme Transport’s open approach works with Open ROADM based, multi-vendor optical transport networks to enable end-to-end optical services that push high bandwidth to the network edge, according to the company. With the DZS Saber-4400 at its heart, DZS Xtreme Transport provides access to newly available 2-degree CDC flex ROADM and transponder/muxponder capabilities on a hardened, long-reach coherent optical metro and edge transport platform. The Saber-4400 supports up to 400 Gbps per wavelength in a 1RU form factor that can be loaded into existing or low-cost cabinets. Use of the DZS Xtreme Transport/Saber 4400 can save service providers approximately $20,000 to more than $200,000 per site, DZS asserts.
DZS Xtreme Transport leverages standards-compliant models and APIs from such established standards bodies as the TM Forum, IETF, Open ROADM, ONF, and Open Daylight. Its plug-in-based architecture is designed to be integrated easily with third-party southbound systems using standard APIs or, in the case of proprietary systems, native APIs. DZS Xtreme’s northbound orchestration interface uses TMF and REST open APIs to OSS/BSS systems. Standards supported include Openflow, NETCONF, and YANG.
