Zayo opens 400G fiber route connecting Paris and Marseille

Zayo Group Holdings, Inc. has continued its 400G capabilities expansion initiative with a new route with such capabilities that connects Paris and Marseille (and several places in between – see map above). The route also features first-in-market network hardening via what Zayo described as “next-generation fiber technologies.”

The Paris-to-Marseille route will feature up to 24 Tbps of expected capacity per fiber pair and triversity options to enable secure, resilient connectivity, both on the route itself and to the rest of Europe and the U.S. In addition to the two endpoints, the new route also will provide direct access to Bordeaux, which is the landing city for the new Amitié transatlantic submarine cable that will connect the U.S. with the UK and France. Once ready for service, the connection also will enable direct access to Asia, Africa, and the Middle East, Zayo adds.

The Paris-to-Marseille route is built to support and transport the fast-paced bandwidth growth and increasingly high demand for connectivity in these markets, giving customers a more reliable, scalable, and secure way to share data to the rest of Europe and the U.S.”

The new route is part of an expansion initiative in Europe for Zayo, which includes completion of its Zeus subsea cable between the UK and continental Europe in 2022. Zayo currently owns and operates 2.2 million km of fiber and connects 16 metro markets and nine countries across Europe.
