euNetworks deploys hollowcore fiber between Basildon and London

euNetworks Fiber UK Ltd. has added another 26 km of hollowcore fiber cable between Basildon and London. The fiber network services provider connected this cable, installed last November, to the 14 km of hollowcore fiber cable it deployed in September 2022 (see "euNetworks deploys more hollowcore fiber on new UK route") to create an all hollowcore fiber route from Basildon to The London Stock Exchange in London.

The company says the route does not require mid-span amplification. As is the case with its previous deployments of hollowcore fiber, euNetworks expects its customers will benefit from the lower latency such fiber enables. The service provider said that future deployments of the technology also will target ultra-low-latency metropolitan and long-haul routes across Europe, with an eye toward serving the needs of high frequency trading (HFT) customers.

“We continue to be focused on delivering the best possible bandwidth solutions for our customers and look forward to deploying longer routes of hollowcore fiber in the coming quarters,” said Paula Cogan, CEO of euNetworks. “We have great teams focused on deploying this product on our network to maintain market-leading latency margins in our euTrade services.”

euNetworks has used CoreSmart hollowcore fiber cable from Lumenisity. Microsoft recently purchased Lumenisity (see “Microsoft buys hollowcore fiber provider Lumenisity”).
