Nokia says it will supply Lightstorm with C+L band WDM optical line systems to extend the service provider’s SmartNet long-haul route into the eastern and northern regions of India.

Nokia says it will assist India’s Lightstorm on an optical network expansion project. The company says it will supply Lightstorm with C+L band WDM optical line systems to extend the service provider’s SmartNet long-haul route into the eastern and northern regions of India.

Lightstorm provides carrier-neutral digital infrastructure to enterprise customers. SmartNet is designed to offer the service provider’s customers reduced latency, 100% uptime, and full end-to-end control and management capabilities.

The company also is an existing Nokia customer; its fiber network uses Nokia’s 1830 Photonic Service Switch (PSS) optical transport platform with Nokia’s PSE-V fifth-generation coherent optic chipset. “Our partnership with Nokia will help us achieve our goals of rapid network route expansion with the benefit of added capacity. The expanded coverage will help Lightstorm cater to our customers’ increasing demand and help drive the Digital India vision,” commented Rajiv Nayyar, chief operating officer at Lightstorm.

In addition to the fiber network hardware, Nokia also will provide integration and consulting services to aid the deployment.
