PacketLight Networks unveils PL-4000 muxponder and transponder line for 400G metro, 200G long-haul networks

PacketLight Networks has launched the PL-4000 line of 400G muxponder and transponder line. The line incorporates mux/demux, amplifiers, optical switch and embedded Layer-1 optical encryption for data center interconnect, metro, and long-haul fiber networks. It also is designed to enable full visibility and performance monitoring of the optical transport layer.

The PL-4000 line cards support a mix of 10/25/100/400 Gigabit Ethernet, 16/32G Fibre Channel, and OTU2/OTU4 service interfaces. For 400G, the cards will accommodate a variety of 400G line optics, including CFP2-DCO, QSFP-ZR+, and QSFP-ZR. It also will leverage several standard FEC modes such as C-FEC as defined by the OIF, O-FEC as defined in the Open ROADM standard, and SD-FEC.

PacketLight sees the PL-4000 line as marking the full demarcation point between the service CPE and the DWDM uplink. The family is interoperable with any third-party switch or router.
