Empire Access to continue FTTP expansion with deployment in Carbondale, PA

March 27, 2023
The Carbondale initiative follows Pennsylvania FTTP deployment announcements for Williamsport and Scranton since last November.

Empire Access says it will continue its footprint expansion initiative with a deployment of fiber to the premises (FTTP) in Carbondale, PA. The Northeastern U.S. fiber internet provider expects to complete the FTTP roll out by this fall.

The Carbondale initiative follows Pennsylvania FTTP deployment announcements for Williamsport and Scranton since last November. “We’re really excited to be covering more ground in Pennsylvania,” said Empire Access CEO Jim Baase. “Having a resource for communication services is crucial and we recognize the need for a reliable internet connection in Carbondale. Unlike our competitors, our local team members and facilities provide us a unique opportunity to become active members in the community. Carbondale is a landmark in history, and we look forward to being a part of that story.”

Once completed, Empire Access will use the FTTP infrastructure to offer gigabit broadband, TV, voice, and security services to residents and businesses. The business offerings also include enterprise WiFi, fire walls, business email, audio and video conferencing, dark fiber, and metro Ethernet.

Empire Access also recently revealed plans to deploy FTTP in Cortland, NY. The company has aggressively pursued expansion since its Antin Infrastructure Partners purchased a majority share in the company at the beginning of the year (see “Antin Infrastructure Partners completes purchase of FTTH broadband providers Empire Access and North Penn”).
