Italian fiber broadband network wholesaler Fastweb and service provider iliad say that they have signed an agreement that will enable the latter to use the former’s fiber infrastructure to delivery broadband services in Italy. In combination with similar arrangements it has signed previously, iliad expects the new deal will enable it to serve more than 10 million premises in Italy by the beginning of next year.
“Our goal is to offer our users the best fiber connectivity service in ever larger areas of the country. The agreement with Fastweb is an important step in this direction,” commented Benedetto Levi, CEO of iliad, “and we can only be very satisfied."
Fastweb says the deal will bring to more than 400,000 the number of premises on its network to which it has sold access. The company expects to be able to offer access to more than 14.5 million homes in Italy by 2025.
