IQ Fiber plans Northern Florida FTTH expansion

Fiber-based broadband service provider IQ Fiber has announced further fiber to the home (FTTH) deployment plans within its Northeast Florida service territory. The company says it will roll out FTTH in Jacksonville Beach, Beauclerc, and Mandarin along with Orange Park and Fleming Island in Clay County, at a cost of approximately $45 million.

Design and engineering work for this expansion is complete, and construction – based on underground conduit – will begin over the next several weeks, says the company. As is the case with the company’s other deployments, the FTTH network will be based on XGS-PON. IQ Fiber will offer three symmetrical service tiers that range from 250 Mbps and 1 Gbps, along with whole-home WiFi.

“We are excited to bring a modern internet choice to tens of thousands of additional Jacksonville area residents” said Ted Schremp, CEO of IQ Fiber. “IQ Fiber is Northeast Florida’s only local residential fiber-optic internet service provider and we’re proud to make this significant investment right here in our own community.”

Meanwhile, IQ Fiber reports that it has activated the first portion of its FTTH network in San Jose Forest. Its San Marco and Atlantic Beach FTTH networks should begin service in multiple phases over the next several months as well.

Privately funded IQ Fiber is headquartered in Jacksonville, FL, and launched in August 2021 with a focus on Clay, Duval, Nassau, and St. Johns counties.
