April 11, 2022
The rollout will take two years and pass more than 35,000 homes and businesses, according to Glo Fiber.

Glo Fiber, the fiber to the home (FTTH) broadband brand of Shenandoah Telecommunications Company (Shentel; Nasdaq: SHEN) will deploy FTTH in parts of Lancaster County, PA, after reaching agreements with local officials. The rollout will take two years and pass more than 35,000 homes and businesses, according to Glo Fiber.

The FTTH network will reach:

  • Lancaster Township
  • Mountville Borough
  • East Hempfield Township
  • West Lampeter Township
  • Manheim Township.

Construction will start in Lancaster Township this month, with East Hempfield Township next in line. "East Hempfield is looking forward to developing a new and positive working relationship with Glo Fiber. We feel additional choices for internet/cable and phone service will add value to being a resident or business owner in the Township," said Cindy Schweitzer, East Hempfield Township manager/secretary.

Glo Fiber will offer three tiers of symmetrical internet access (including 2 Gbps), Glo TV streaming video, and unlimited local and long-distance phone services. The app-based Glo TV service is compatible with Apple TV, Amazon's Fire Stick, and smart TVs with the right embedded streaming software. Optional WiFi 6 WiFi service is also available.

In addition to Pennsylvania, Glo Fiber operates in Virginia, Maryland, and West Virginia. "Our expansion further into Pennsylvania means we will bring more connectivity to areas and communities that need reliable, affordable internet services," said Chris Kyle, vice president of industry and regulatory affairs at Shentel. "In rural areas, connectivity is crucial. Most important to us is to provide the communities we serve with a quality product, exceptional customer service, and the assurance that Shentel prioritizes the needs of its customers 100% of the time."
