Rally targets fiber to the MDU in Toronto via Nokia

Dec. 13, 2021
Rally is using the Lightspan MF-2 platform, which supports both 10G and 25G PON, to improve services to its customers, the majority of whom live in condominiums and MDUs in the Greater Toronto Area.

Rally, a Toronto-based fiber broadband service provider for residential, healthcare, and senior care customers, has launched deployment of Nokia's Lightspan MF-2 fiber access node across its network in Toronto to serve multiple dwelling units (MDUs). The company is Nokia’s first North American customer for the platform.

Rally is using the Lightspan MF-2 platform, which supports both 10G PON and 25G PON, to improve services to its customers, the majority of whom live in condominiums and MDUs in the Greater Toronto Area, particularly the central business districts of Toronto, North York, and Mississauga. The company also provides services to 150 hospitals across Canada in partnership with HealthHub Patient Engagement Solutions. Rally has decided to pair the Lightspan MF-2 deployment with Nokia's mesh WiFi technology and Altiplano Access Controller. Altiplano will enable Software Defined Access Network (SDAN) capabilities.

"Rally is thrilled to partner with a global technology leader like Nokia in offering our customers and clients the latest in WiFi technology, further demonstrating our ability to service the Canadian market, and in our shared commitment to connectivity services, products and solutions that enable a more inclusive and sustainable world," commented Paul G. Smith, CEO of Rally.

"Nokia technology is helping Canadians continue to thrive when working from home is the norm. This partnership with Rally will make high-speed connectivity accessible to even more people in the digital era," added Shawn Sparling, vice president, enterprise and public sector at Nokia.
