Zzoomm delivers 2-Gbps FTTH service in Henley-on-Thames

Zzoomm’s FTTH roll out leverages ADTRAN’s Total Access 5000 with XGS-PON capabilities as its optical line terminal and SmartRG residential gateways at the customer premises.

UK startup full-fiber broadband provider Zzoomm is now offering broadband services of up to 2 Gbps in Henley-on-Thames, according to broadband technology provider ADTRAN Inc. (NASDAQ:ADTN). ADTRAN is Zzoomm’s fiber to the home (FTTH) technology supplier (see “New UK broadband carrier Zzoomm taps ADTRAN for XGS-PON FTTH”).

Zzoomm’s FTTH roll out leverages ADTRAN’s Total Access 5000 (TA5000) with XGS-PON capabilities as its optical line terminal (OLT) and SmartRG residential gateways at the customer premises. The gateways provide the requisite home WiFi coverage but also can be used to accommodate a second 100-Mbps broadband connection for customers who wish to operate separate business and personal networks in their home, ADTRAN says.

“Today, less than 11% of the UK has full-fiber coverage, and we’re addressing that head-on by building the broadband network of the future with ADTRAN,” said Matthew Hare, chief executive of Zzoomm. “Henley-on-Thames is a tech-savvy town with a great digital community, many remote workers, and a mix of population demographics. Like the rest of the UK, residents of Henley love bandwidth-intensive applications and online gaming. Our full-fiber network provides the infrastructure needed to ensure that every person gets the optimized broadband experience they crave, both today and in the future.”
