Clearfield offers SeeChange Terminal for simplified FTTx deployments

Clearfield, Inc. (NASDAQ:CLFD) now offers the SeeChange Terminal and hardened connector system. The small, carrier-grade access terminal is designed for plug-and-play deployment of optical access networks, particularly by communities, mobile operators, and others who may be new to FTTx networks or who otherwise lack technicians skilled in fiber deployments.

The terminal and connector system is designed for harsh outdoor environments. The SeeChange hardened fiber assemblies come with either a multi-fiber MPO connector or a single-fiber SC APC connector, depending on the installer’s requirements. The system offers a simple connection strategy that sees the connector easily engaged and fully sealed quickly and easily. The terminal can be used below and above grade, with the latter including aerial installations on strands. The terminal’s MPO input port supports four subscriber drop ports as well as an MPO Express output port that feeds downstream terminals in extended network deployments. The compact size of the terminal means technicians can deploy the SeeChange unit in a variety of locations including pedestal, vault, flowerpot, pole-mount, smart-pole, or strand mounted options. The units also can be used to feed multiple-dwelling units (MDUs), say Clearfield sources.

“Over the next decade, fiber networks will go further than they have ever gone before, connecting people and places previously unreachable based on economics and technology. Operators need solutions that speed time to market, reduce cost of deployment, and can be deployed with minimal training,” said Johnny Hill, COO of Clearfield. “SeeChange ensures that our customers can address these needs quickly and cost-effectively, with a simplified solution that withstands the harshest environmental challenges.”

“I could author a book on fixed wireless technologies, but I know nothing about fiber. By teaming up with Clearfield and its new SeeChange platform, I can deliver a state-of-the-art fiber-to-the-home network to over 200 homes in Lubbock, TX, using plug-and play-components with only my two wireless techs,” said Rob Walker, owner of service provider Telespan. “Anyone wanting an easy-to-understand and easy-to-install fiber network should consider the Clearfield SeeChange platform.”
