Wyandotte, MI, deploys FTTH network with CommScope

CommScope says it has supplied both physical infrastructure and services to the City of Wyandotte, MI, for a fiber to the home (FTTH) deployment project. The municipality, which is 11 miles south of Detroit, will use the fiber broadband network to connect nearly 13,000 homes and more than 700 commercial buildings.

The FTTH network will support up to 10 Gbps and provide connectivity to almost 25,000 residents. The project, which will see the upgrade of an existing network, will require full conversion to FTTH, management of multiple contractors, network component integration, and relocation and expansion of the city’s headend. Toward these ends, CommScope Professional Services will provide inside and outside plant construction management and headend relocation. Ongoing consulting services include hybrid fiber/coax (HFC) and FTTH architecture analysis, network evolution, FTTH design services, off-air antenna, and satellite signal surveys.
