Solid Optics offers simplex versions of 10G, 100G EDFAMUX for data center interconnect

Solid Optics now offers simplex versions of its 10G and 100G EDFAMUX, which combines pre/post amplification, mux/demux, and dispersion compensation in a 1RU platform.

Netherlands-based technology developer Solid Optics now offers simplex versions of its 10G and 100G EDFAMUX, which combines pre/post amplification, mux/demux, and dispersion compensation in a 1RU platform. The simplex versions significantly streamline data center interconnect, according to the company.

The 10G simplex version is available in a 10x10G, 140-km configuration. The simplex 100G EDFAMUX is available as an 8x100G, 80-km platform. Integrated red/blue filters enable the simplex operation.

The simplex units join the existing duplex 10G and 100G EDFAMUX line, which leverages the company’s PAM4 QSFP28 pluggable optics at 100G and SFPs at 10G to address data center interconnect applications. The duplex 100G EDFAMUX comes in four configurations:

  1. 8x100G 80 km
  2. 8x100G 120 km
  3. 16x100G 40 km
  4. 16x100G 80 km.

Meanwhile, the 10G platform comes in two configurations:

  1. 10x10G 140 km
  2. 10x10G 200 km.

All versions feature a 1% monitor port as well as Web, SNMP, SYSLOG, and HTTP API monitoring. The EDFAs are set to auto gain control mode, although the user can adjust the settings, Solid Optics says. Launched in 2019, the EDFAMUX has seen approximately 300 deployments in the networks of telcos, data centers, and internet exchanges, according to a company source.
