Poland’s Salumanus chooses PacketLight PL-2000ADS for data center interconnect

Salumanus has used the systems to provide secure data center interconnect between a pair of data centers for a major bank in Warsaw.

PacketLight Networks says it has delivered it PL-2000ADS short-haul optical transport system to Salumanus, a distributor and provider of network infrastructure equipment and services in Poland. Salumanus has used the systems to provide secure data center interconnect between a pair of data centers for a major bank in Warsaw that PacketLight did not further identify.

The pair of 15-km data center interconnect optical paths supports low-latency 10 Gigabit Ethernet and 16G Fibre Channel traffic between bank branches, with the ability to scale to 40 Gigabit Ethernet when necessary. PacketLight says the PL-2000ADS supports 2x10G and 1x16G on both optical paths with embedded Layer 1 encryption for all protocols. Working on the current limitations forced by the current COVID-19 pandemic, Salumanus was able to complete the deployment remotely in less than 4 weeks, PacketLight adds.

“PacketLight’s solution met our strict requirements for a solution that delivers low latency, the very best physical layer security, and allowed our client to cost-effectively grow at their own pace,” commented Marcin Bala, CTO at Salumanus. “Due to regulations surrounding COVID-19 that restricted our team’s ability to be on-site, the deployment would’ve been challenging if not for our ability to work together to provide our client with remote training for operation, configuration, monitoring, and detailed instruction to help them deploy the system on their own.”
