EdgeConneX plans third data center in Israel

April 25, 2023
The Rishon facility will expand EdgeConneX’s footprint in Israel beyond the two sites it operates near Tel Aviv, one in Herzliya and the other in Petah Tikva.

EdgeConneX has revealed plans to build a new data center in Rishon, Israel. The facility, the data center services provider’s third in the country, will target the needs of hyperscalers, cloud service providers, and enterprises with 7.5 MW. EdgeConneX expects the data center to be operational by the third quarter of this year.

The Rishon facility will expand EdgeConneX’s footprint in Israel beyond the two sites it operates near Tel Aviv, one in Herzliya and the other in Petah Tikva, that it purchased in 2021 (see "EdgeConneX to buy Global Data Center for Israeli expansion"). The fact that a report from Research and Markets forecasts the Israeli data center market size by investments will reach $795 million by 2026 points to the need for such additional capacity, the company said.

“We’re thrilled to be well underway with the construction and development of the Rishon site,” commented Dick Theunissen, managing director, EMEA, at EdgeConneX. “The new facility and additional expansion plans will bring the necessary capacity and innovation to grow business and meet increasing hyperscaler and enterprise customer needs. We focus on our customers and providing them with the infrastructure and power capacity they want, where they want it, and when they want it.”

EdgeConneX asserts the Rishon facility will offer “extensive” fiber and peering options with resilient access to local and international internet service providers.
