Colt Data Centre Services begins construction of London 4 Data Centre

Colt Data Centre Services (Colt DCS) says it has broken ground on the construction of its London 4 Data Centre in Hayes, West London. The hyperscale facility will include two data center buildings; the construction effort also will result in a general sprucing up of the site and adjacent area, according to the company.

The two facilities will provide 57 MW of IT power and serve as Colt DCS's third and fourth hyperscale data centers in the London area. The site also has room for a third 30-MW IT power data center building. Colt DCS expects the facility to appeal to large enterprises and cloud service providers.

Colt DCS adds that the data center buildings will feature high levels of sustainability through such means as the use of 100% renewable energy, heat pump technology, and backup biodiesel powered generators. The London 4 Data Centre also should create approximately 230 permanent jobs, 350 constructions jobs, and 50 apprenticeships, Colt DCS estimates.

"We are extremely excited to announce the ground-breaking of our newest data center in London,” commented Niclas Sanfridsson, CEO of Colt DCS. “We worked closely with the local community and stakeholders through the planning process to intricately shape all aspects of this development, to outline the economic benefits it will bring, and to explain the critical role that data centers play in all of our daily lives and most importantly what opportunities this brings for the local communities.”
