Zayo adds 100G PoPs on Texas border

Zayo Group Holdings, Inc. says it has added 100G IP points of presence (PoPs) in McAllen and Laredo, TX. The PoPs, which will support 400G wavelength services as well, will help improve connectivity for Zayo customers between the U.S., Mexico, and Latin America.

The PoPs will ensure access to capacity that can support bandwidth-intensive applications and large amounts of data, thus easing cross-border collaboration via high-speed, private, and secure connectivity, says Zayo.

“This latest investment is a game changer for cross-border business opportunities,” commented Bill Long, chief product officer at Zayo. “With these diverse capabilities, our customers have the added protection they need to ensure their networks will be secure, reliable, and most importantly, connected in Latin America.”

The new PoPs are part of an investment initiative aimed at expanding Zayo’s network in Latin America and other parts of globe. For example, the company announced plans last month to expand its Global Low Latency Network with low-latency routes into São Paulo, Brazil. In total, Zayo has spent more than $250 million this year on infrastructure expansion.
