Cologix to expand Columbus Region data center campus

The project will see the construction of a new 36-MW data center at the Worthington Woods Boulevard campus.

Hyperscale data center and interconnection services supplier Cologix Inc. says it plans to spend more than $150 million to expand its Columbus Region data center campus in Ohio. The project will see the construction of a new 36-MW data center at the Worthington Woods Boulevard campus.

Cologix says the new construction results from a surge in demand for cloud connectivity in the Columbus area, home to three of the company’s 40 data centers in North America (see "Cologix reveals Columbus, OH, data center campus expansion plans"). The region’s central location as well as its security and connectivity infrastructure make it a natural hub location, according to the company.

“We are excited to finalize our second, multimillion-dollar investment in the Columbus Region, a priority market for our hyperscale growth,” commented Cologix President and Chief Revenue Officer Laura Ortman. “We are expanding our powerful capabilities to better serve our new and existing customers in Columbus and across the Midwest.”

Cologix estimates that the new data center will provide 15 jobs for the region, bringing its total headcount in the Columbus area to 39. “Cologix’s expansion in another data center brings a state-of-the-art facility to the Columbus Region and continues Ohio’s strong momentum of attracting advanced technology here,” said J.P. Nauseef, president and CEO of JobsOhio. “Every rapidly growing industry relies on data speed and capacity to grow their business, and Cologix’s investment builds even more of that critical infrastructure here in Ohio.”
