DataBank expands ATL3 Atlanta data center

Located in Atlanta’s Historic West End district, ATL3 is a carrier-neutral interconnection hub that provides a access to more than 10 on-site carriers and several internet, fiber, interconnect, and cross-connect options.

Enterprise-class colocation, connectivity, and managed services provider DataBank says it has completed a capacity expansion project at ATL3, the third of the company’s three Atlanta area data centers. The new capacity is ready for use, the company says.

Located in Atlanta’s Historic West End district, ATL3 is a carrier-neutral interconnection hub that provides a access to more than 10 on-site carriers and several internet, fiber, interconnect, and cross-connect options, according to DataBank. The expansion effort, launched late in 2021, adds more than 22,000 square feet of data center space to bring the total capacity to more than 44,000 square feet of white space and total raised floor space to 72,000 square feet. DataBank also increased the site’s total power from 1.5 MW to 6 MW.

The site expansion comes against a backdrop of growing demand from Atlanta-area customer targets in such industries as healthcare IT, fintech, logistics, and manufacturing. “We’ve been looking forward to completing this expansion project to further support our customers’ infrastructure needs and growth,” commented Tony Qorri, DataBank’s vice president of construction. “Bringing this additional capacity to Atlanta aligns well with DataBank’s growth in the region’s data center market and underscores its position as one of the prime emerging internet hubs in the southeast United States.”

DataBank significantly expanded its U.S. and international footprint when it bought Zayo's zColo assets (see "Zayo to sell zColo data center business to DataBank").
