DC BLOX plans Myrtle Beach submarine cable landing station

Data center services provider DC BLOX says it wants to build a submarine cable landing station (CLS) in Myrtle Beach, SC. The company expects the CLS, which will be located in the International Technology and Aerospace Park (ITAP), to be completed in the second quarter of 2023.

DC BLOX says it will design the CLS to withstand a Category 5 hurricane and engineer it to Uptime Institute’s Tier III standards. The facility also will be SOC 2 Type II and NIST 800-171 compliant. The company expects the CLS to include up to 15 MW of AC power with managed rectifiers for DC power feed equipment (PFE). The CLS will connect to five pre-positioned subsea bore pipes configured for up to five submarine cables.

In addition to serving submarine cable network needs, the CLS also will support traditional colocation requirements for communications providers, local enterprises, governments, and customer partner networks, DC BLOX adds. The CLS will provide concurrently maintainable 2N power generation, UPS and switchgear, with indirect adiabatic and evaporation cooling for efficiency and sustainability with N+1 redundancy, the company adds.
