DE-CIX plans internet exchanges in Norway, Denmark, and Finland
Internet exchange (IX) operator DE-CIX has announced its intention of entering the Nordic market, with exchanges planned for Norway, Denmark, and Finland. DE-CIX will partner with Bulk Infrastructure in the Norwegian and Danish markets.
The new exchanges will be integrated into DE-CIX ecosystem, leveraging recently constructed transatlantic and intercontinental submarine cables that link the Nordics to North America and Asia. That ecosystem includes more than 10 IXs (and more than 2100 connected networks) in Central and Southern Europe as well as 5 IXs (with connectivity to more than 400 networks) in North America.
“The Nordic region comprises some of the world’s most highly developed digital markets,” said Ivo Ivanov, CEO of DE-CIX International. “However, the interconnection infrastructure available in the region does not match the digital maturity of the economy in the Nordics. The region has seen significant growth in data center investments for the concentration of hosting, storage, and cloud deployments, and a high concentration of enterprises and manufacturing presence. It is important for the related interconnection infrastructure to get closer to these investments, to serve the connectivity demands. DE-CIX has seen strong support from the Nordic data center community for our plans to expand to the region, in which we will localize our interconnection capabilities for these markets, at the same time as integrating them into the DE-CIX European and transcontinental interconnection ecosystem.”
In Norway, DE-CIX will place platform points of presence in Bulk Infrastructure facilities in the Bulk data centers in Oslo (OS-IX) and Kristiansand (Campus N01)m Norway, as well as Esbjerg (Campus DK01) in Denmark.
