Flō Networks completes buy of American Tower's Mexico Fiber business

May 1, 2023
The assets, known commercially at redIT, includes a fiber-optic network that reaches more than 40 cities throughout the country.

Flō Networks (formerly Transtelco) says it completed the purchase of American Tower's fiber business in Mexico, ATC Holding Fibra México, S. de R.L. de C.V. on March 29, 2023. The assets, known commercially at redIT, includes a fiber-optic network that reaches more than 40 cities throughout the country. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Flō Networks says it will combine the Mexican fiber infrastructure with its existing assets in the U.S. to create a network of more than 20,000 miles of fiber that will connect nearly 10,000 buildings. The network offers the ability to connect 15 countries across the Americas.

"We are thrilled to announce the completion of the acquisition of ATC Holding Fibra México," said Miguel Fernandez, CEO of Flō Networks. "The combination of these two unique and complementary networks will enable redIT's dense metro footprints throughout Mexico to leverage Flō's diverse long-haul and metro networks, providing reliable and redundant routes to transport mission-critical data back to the United States and beyond. I could not be more proud of our team and how they efficiently executed through a challenging market backdrop. We'd also like to thank the American Tower team for their leadership and partnership that culminated in a successful outcome for both parties."

Founded in 2001 under the Transtelco name, Flō Networks offers managed data and voice services to Fortune 500 and telecommunications and cable companies. "This is Flō's third transformational acquisition in three years and cements our status as the preeminent high-growth consolidator of digital infrastructure businesses in the region,” Fernandez added. “With our proven track-record and leadership, we are confident of our ability to integrate and scale our operations and provide even more resilient and complex solutions to our valued customers, while creating value for our shareholders."
