DataBank closes zColo deal with acquisition of five French data centers
DataBank has completed its acquisition of zColo’s data center assets, finally taking ownership of the five data centers in France from Zayo Group Holdings. The zColo U.S. and UK data centers became part of DataBank last December (see “DataBank closes buy of zColo U.S., UK assets”).
The zColo data centers expand DataBank’s count to 65. The company now can provide more than a million square feet of colocation space, with 141 MW of installed UPS capacity, in the data centers as well as 20 interconnect hubs. Overall, the deal tripled DataBank’s footprint from 20 data centers in 9 markets to the 65 data centers in 29 markets.
“We’re excited to finally have all elements of the zColo transaction complete,” stated Raul K. Martynek, DataBank’s CEO. “Our integration is moving ahead swiftly, and we look forward to unleashing the full power and reach of our integrated edge colocation and interconnect platform for customers in the months ahead.”
DataBank and Zayo Group Holdings announced the deal last September (see “Zayo to sell zColo data center business to DataBank”). The acquisition price remains undisclosed. DataBank also has invested in EdgePresence, an owner and operator of multi-tenant, modular edge data centers. Together, the recent moves put the company in a strong position to meet the needs of enterprises, hyperscalers, cloud, content, and software customers in second-, third-, and fourth-tier markets, DataBank believes.
