JDSU Introduces New Fiber Characterization Software Designed for Networks Carrying Triple-Play Services

Feb. 23, 2006
JDSU today announced the release of Optical FiberCable v4 and Optical FiberTrace v6, the latest versions of its industry-leading fiber characterization PC software analysis solutions. The new versions enable complete qualification of fiber infrastructure as required to deliver the highest quality triple-play services via multi-wavelength (CWDM/DWDM) and FTTx delivery mechanisms.

San Jose, California, February 23, 2006 JDSU today announced the release of Optical FiberCable v4 and Optical FiberTrace v6, the latest versions of its industry-leading fiber characterization PC software analysis solutions. The new versions enable complete qualification of fiber infrastructure as required to deliver the highest quality triple-play services via multi-wavelength (CWDM/DWDM) and FTTx delivery mechanisms. Optical FiberCable and Optical FiberTrace will be on display at OFC/NFOEC 2006 in Anaheim, California, March 5-10 (booth 2323).

Both software packages help network installers and service providers by providing fast and efficient post-analysis of testing carried out in the field. Optical FiberCable v4 and Optical FiberTrace v6 enable significant time savings in processing the large amounts of test data required to ensure higher quality services consistently meet committed service turn-up dates.

"Worldwide market demand for triple-play services is ramping up, leading to more pressure on those responsible for installing, building or upgrading networks for new fiber services aimed at triple play especially DWDM and CWDM," said Enzo di Luigi, general manager of JDSU's fiber optics Test and Measurement group. "The new versions of JDSU's FiberTrace and FiberCable software not only aid those responsible for these installations and upgrades, they make the process quick, easy and cost-effective."

Standardized by many of the world's leading service providers, these new versions are available free of charge to existing users of FiberTrace and FiberCable software. As well as integrating the latest fiber characterization test documentation (loss, reflectance, fiber bend detection, dispersion analysis, multi-wavelength analysis) for higher capacity fiber build out programs, these new versions are compatible with over 15,000 JDSU fiber optic test platforms already in the field (the JDSU MTS-5100 and JDSU MTS/T-BERD 8000 product lines).

The new versions of FiberTrace and FiberCable software integrate bi-directional insertion loss (IL), optical return loss (ORL), bi-directional optical time domain reflectometer (OTDR) analysis, fiber bend detection, CWDM/DWDM attenuation profile (AP), CWDM/DWDM optical spectrum analysis (OSA), and polarization mode dispersion (PMD) and chromatic dispersion (CD) measurement.
