Alphawave IP Group plc (LSE: AWE) has named four new executives to aid the company as it transitions from being a pure-play IP provider to a vertically integrated semiconductor company. The new executive team members will bring semiconductor industry experience and expertise in connectivity technology for digital infrastructure to their new roles, according to Alphawave IP.

The new executives include:

  1. Mohit Gupta, senior vice president and general manager, who will lead Alphawave's IP and custom silicon business. Gupta joined Alphawave in September 2022 as part of the company’s acquisition of the OpenFive business unit of SiFive, where he was senior vice president and general manager for the IP and custom SoC business units.
  2. Babak Samimi, senior vice president and general manager, will head the new connectivity products business. Babak joined Alphawave in November 2022 from Microchip Technology, where he most recently served as corporate vice president of the Communications Networking Business.
  3. Saeid Ghafouri, senior vice president, worldwide sales, joined Alphawave in February 2021 and has sales executive experience at early stage and established semiconductor EDA and IP companies.
  4. Sudhir Mallya, senior vice president, corporate marketing, within the newly formed Corporate Marketing Group, joined Alphawave in September 2022, also as part of the OpenFive acquisition. At OpenFive, Mallya was vice president for corporate and custom silicon product marketing.

"With these appointments, Alphawave is moving on to the next phase of our long-term plan,” commented Tony Pialis, president and CEO of Alphawave IP. “All of these individuals bring important expertise which will enable our customers to continue to benefit from the highest performing, lowest power connectivity solutions in the form of IP, as well as custom silicon and complete optical silicon products. I am looking forward to working together with the extended team."

"We are pleased to announce these seasoned and talented appointments as we execute on our mission to extend Alphawave's leadership in our key markets,” added John Lofton Holt, executive chairman of Alphawave. “We are already seeing synergies from our recent acquisitions in the form of design wins and an expanded customer base and look forward to sharing more details on this, and other areas, at our upcoming Capital Markets Day [January 13, 2022]."

In addition to the OpenFive acquisition, Alphawave IP also purchased Banias Labs last October for its expertise in optical DSPs (see “Alphawave IP acquires Banias Labs for coherent DSPs”).
