Technetix offers 10G-PON pluggable OLT for DBx access platform

The company now offers a pluggable optical line terminal (OLT) that supports symmetrical XGS-PON and 10G-EPON operation based on technology from TiBiT Communications.

Technetix says it has added symmetrical 10G-PON capabilities to its DBx universal access platform. The company now offers a pluggable optical line terminal (OLT) that supports symmetrical XGS-PON and 10G-EPON operation based on technology from TiBiT Communications.

The company sees the 10G-PON capabilities support both fiber to the home (FTTH) and Distributed Access Architecture applications. Cable operators can create a high RF level Remote PHY distribution node (RPD) node and OLT in a single housing. The combination enables cable MSOs to support high-speed business services via fiber to enterprise, 5G backhaul, and FTTH, says Technetix. Operators also can offer 10G-PON from fielded Ethernet switches using the pluggable OLT.

“Technetix is further extending its optical capability,” says Sean Kitchingham, vice president of business development at Technetix. “As we extend our solution and problem-solving capabilities into the optical access market, we are also increasing the level of flexibility and options available to our customers as they deploy high-speed services in this increasingly complex market.”

TiBiT Communications unveiled its MicroPlug 10G-PON pluggable OLT in August 2018 (see "Tibit intros pluggable PON OLT"). "TiBiT is excited to be working with the team at Technetix to combine our expertise to meet the needs of the burgeoning FTTH market in Europe," says Jay Teborek, vice president of sales and marketing at the company.
