Concurrent with the release of the FTB-2 Pro compact platform (see “EXFO unveils FTB-2 for fiber-optic test in small platform”), optical test and measurement instrument company EXFO Inc. (NASDAQ: EXFO, TSX: EXF) also has introduced the FTB-8830NGE Power Blazer module. The 10-Gbps multiservice test module can address turn-up, circuit validation, and troubleshooting requirements for a variety of applications and traffic types, including Ethernet, SONET/SDH, Optical Transport Network (OTN), and Fibre Channel, as well as packet synchronization (SyncE/1588 PTP).
When used to in applications that include packet-based Ethernet services, the Power Blazer's dual test-set topology enables quick and accurate asymmetrical service-level agreement (SLA) validation, EXFO says. These capabilities can be combined with EXFO’s EtherSAM (Y.1564) and SyncE/1588PTP test suites.
Elsewhere, users can leverage the Power Blazer module for turn-up and validation of Fibre Channel circuits at all rates (1x, 2x, 4x, 8x, 10x, and 16x), according to EXFO. The FTB-8830NGE Power Blazer module also offer high port density; when housed in the FTB-2 Pro, users can perform four simultaneous tests using the same compact platform, EXFO adds.
"With the arrival of the FTB-8830NGE Power Blazer, EXFO once again reaffirms its role as an undisputed leader in innovative market-driven multiservice test solutions," said Claudio Mazzuca, vice-president of EXFO's Transport and Service Assurance Division. "Since our customers must deliver quality services to generate revenue, our objective is to provide them with appropriate and reliable test tools that will help them overcome their challenges as their network transformation progresses."
