The Netherlands` Ministry of Defense has awarded a $40 million contract to Northern Telecom BV to supply the Dutch Armed Forces with synchronous digital hierarchy transmission equipment and a network management system. The SDH equipment operates at speeds to 2.5 gigabits per second. The Netherlands Armed Forces Integrated Network will serve the country`s entire defense organization, carrying voice and data to more than 200 sites. It will also connect the military to NATO.
