VeEX FX120 analyzer aids 10G PON service activation and troubleshooting
VeEX Inc. has announced general availability its new FX120 XG(S)-PON analyzer. The handheld, field-portable unit leverages the foundation created by the predecessor MTTplus-420 GPON analyzer to assist in the installation, activation, and troubleshooting of 1-Gbps and 10-Gbps all-fiber and hybrid access networks.
The FX120 PON analyzer features a pass-through, filtered power meter for accurate level measurements on up to five in-service signals simultaneously. The unit captures and decodes the in-band protocol messages that help manage an ONT’s critical operating parameters. Other key features and functions include:
- PON service activation to verify downstream/upstream signal levels are acceptable with LOS, Frame, Sync, and ONT status indicators per ITU-T G.984 and G.9807.1 standards
- PON-ID (OLT-ID, Class and TOL) for GPON and/or XG(S)-PON OLTs
- 1G/2.5G/5G/10G Speedtest® by Ookla®
In all, the FX120 is designed to enable simple, error-free customer turnup that minimizes truck rolls, VeEX says.
“FTTH/P technicians can no longer rely on legacy PON testers and traditional test methods when working with new co-existent GPON, XG(S)-PON, and/or RF video networks,” said Monica Hua, product manager at VeEX. “Multiple wavelengths add complexity to optical level measurements, while discrete bandwidth services and applications impact ONT provisioning. The ability to measure each optical signal wavelength; capture relevant PON-ID, ONU ID, serial number; and status; eliminating cross connect errors; plus performing an internet speed test all in a single, intuitive tester is a game-changer.”
The VeEX FX120 PON analyzer earned a score of 4.0 in the 2022 Lightwave Innovation Reviews. The unit will be on display at OFC, March 8-10, 2022 in San Diego, CA, in Booth #5717.
