Acterna and TyCom sign agreement for fiber optic testers

Apr. 25, 2001--Acterna announced a multi-million-dollar agreement with TyCom Ltd., a provider of undersea systems and capacity to supply fiber optic test equipment.

Acterna (NASDAQ:ACTR) announced a multi-million-dollar agreement with TyCom Ltd. (NYSE:TCM, BSX:TCM), a provider of undersea systems and capacity to supply fiber optic test equipment.

To date, Acterna has received orders for more than 500 handheld fiber optic test sets and portable network analyzers to support deployment of the TyCom Global Network. The total orders received to date make this Acterna's largest contract.

Under terms of the agreement with TyCom, Acterna is providing Advanced Network Testers (ANTs) supporting bit rates up to 10-gigabits, as well as optical power meters, sources, attenuators, OTDRs (optical time domain reflectometers) and Acterna TestPad SDH analyzers.
