Tellium ships optical switch to Dynegy Global Communications

June 12, 2001
June 12, 2001--Tellium, a provider of an in-service, intelligent optical core switch, announced it has delivered the Aurora 128 optical switch to Dynegy Global Communications, the communication segment of Dynegy Inc., expanding its Aurora family of scalable optical core switches.

Tellium (Nasdaq: TELM), a provider of an in-service, intelligent optical core switch, announced it has delivered the Aurora 128 optical switch to Dynegy Global Communications, the communication segment of Dynegy Inc. (NYSE: DYN), expanding its Aurora family of scalable optical core switches.

Dynegy Global Communications will use the Aurora 128 together with the Aurora Optical Switch in its U.S. long-haul network. Tellium's StarNet Software Suite supports both products and allows Dynegy to seamlessly integrate them into their core optical mesh networks.

The Aurora 128 -- an optical core switch for central office applications -- supports up to 128 OC-48/STM-16 or 32 OC-192/STM-64 ports, up to a total of 320 gigabits per second of bi-directional traffic. It enables carriers like Dynegy to add to their networks a scaleable, intelligent core optical switch that uses less floor space and power while maintaining network reliability and performance. The switch can be used in either SONET or SDH optical mesh network architectures for a seamless global network.

The Aurora family of optical switches and the StarNet Software Suite -- a versatile software package for creating, optimizing, running, controlling and provisioning optical networks -- are designed to enable service providers to quickly deploy new, cost-effective revenue-generating services. Both the Aurora Optical Switch and the Aurora 128 are available and shipping to customers now.
