Ixia introduces OC-48c bit error rate tester for optical SONET/SDH interfaces

Jan. 29, 2001
Ixia announced the introduction of its Bit Error Rate Tester (BERT) solution for OC-48c optical SONET/SDH interfaces. The OC-48c BERT Interface Load Module combines 2.4 Gigabits/sec performance with a rich feature set designed to address key analysis issues in Layer 1 performance metrics for optical switches and cross-connects, as well as for ADM and DWDM systems.

Ixia (NASDAQ:XXIA) announced the introduction of its Bit Error Rate Tester (BERT) solution for OC-48c optical SONET/SDH interfaces. The OC-48c BERT Interface Load Module combines 2.4 Gigabits/sec performance with a rich feature set designed to address key analysis issues in Layer 1 performance metrics for optical switches and cross-connects, as well as for ADM and DWDM systems. The BERT Load Module allows for the generation of error patterns compliant with ITU-T recommendation G.826, as well as for auto detection of incoming BERT patterns.

The OC-48c BERT Load Module lets users configure the single transmit and receive port independently, while also incorporating extensive error and alarm reporting capabilities. This new OC-48cEBERT Load Module is a powerful addition to Ixia's family of optical OC-48c Packet Over SONET Load Modules, providing the capability to effectively analyze Layer 1 performance, which is critical to chip and switch manufacturers as the various layers of the OSI model become ever more interdependent.

The OC-48c BERT Load Module gives users the ability to proactively collect reports for a wide array of alerts and statistics, and it is especially useful for repetitive analysis conditions.

The OC-48c BERT Load Module is available now. Chassis start at $8,000.
