The C-BERT 2850-4 is a bit error rate tester designed to solve accuracy issues in testing 100G Ethernet multi-lane receiver modules (ROSAs).
The C-BERT 2850-4 appears to be a very powerful, feature-rich, compact piece of test equipment that should prove to be to very useful to its customers. This is especially true as the need for testing 100GbE will only increase in importance as 100G interfaces increase in volume. Judge's Comment.

The C-BERT 2850-4 is a bit error rate tester designed to solve accuracy issues in testing 100G Ethernet multi-lane receiver modules (ROSAs). The C-Bert 2850-4 has four built-in Mach-Zehnder modulators driven from internal pattern generators that are stabilized by an advanced control circuit to avoid degradation of the optical output testing signal. Four channels can be tested simultaneously at data rates between 24 and 29 Gbps. An equalizer compensates the loss from cable or printed-circuit board interconnects to improve the receive eye opening, increase error-rate detector sensitivity, and achieve a better bit-error rate performance.

Pattern generator, optical transmitter, and error detector reside in a 1U, 19-inch box. The GUI is browser-based, independent from the OS, and controllable from anywhere.
