Anritsu 64-Gbaud D/A converter aides 128-Gbps PAM4 signal generation, 400GbE testing

Feb. 25, 2016
Anritsu Co. has introduced the G0361A 64-Gbaud 2-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC) with dual-channel 2x1 multiplexers. When integrated with the MP1800A BERT Signal Quality Analyzer (SQA), the DAC helps support 128-Gbps PAM4 signal generation and BER tests with accurate jitter injection. The combination should enable simplified, efficient testing of 400 Gigabit Ethernet (400GbE) devices, modules, and systems, according to the test and measurement systems vendor.

The G0361A connects with any of the MP1800A 28/32-Gbps multi-channel pulse pattern generator (PPG) modules. It can generate signals ranging from four channels of 32-Gbps NRZ to 128-Gbps PAM4 (64 Gbaud).

The MP1800A features a built-in PPG for high-quality, high-amplitude signal generation, as well as an error detector (ED) module with high input sensitivity. Each MP1800A PPG or ED module can be either one, two, or four channels to support multichannel synchronization for up to 8 channels at 32 Gbps. With the combination of the new DAC, the MP1800A supports the synchronization of multiple 128G PAM4 signals, Anritsu concludes.
