Sycamore's optical switches used to light NTT's nationwide network
NTT Communications (Tokyo) has successfully turned up commercial services on its nationwide network using Sycamore Networks' SN 3000 and SN 16000 intelligent optical switches. The NTT network is Japan's first nationwide all-switched optical network.
Sycamore has installed SN 3000 and SN 16000 intelligent optical switches in a variety of configurations throughout Japan. With this new network, NTT Com is able to quickly transform capacity into new and innovative service offerings and deliver those services when and where they are needed, claim Sycamore representatives.
"Sycamore is focused on delivering products and solutions from the edge to the core of the public network that give service providers the ability to improve both network and operational efficiencies, speed time to revenue, and enable the rapid introduction of new services," asserts Daniel E. Smith, president and CEO of Sycamore.
