Coherent Solutions is using ECOC in Valencia, Spain this week to debut its 40-GHz IQTX-40 IQTransmitter. The coherent test and measurement specialists assert the IQTX-40 is the first fully integrated laboratory optical transmitter to provide such RF bandwidth.

The 40-GHz RF bandwidth enables technology researchers to generate coherent modulated signals at baud rates beyond 56 GBaud, the company adds.

In addition to its bandwidth, the IQTX-40 features newly enabled automatic bias control (ABC) that Coherent Solutions says will enable engineers to change modulation formats and baud rates with confidence the modulator will maintain its bias stability. The ABC also affords individual control of bias locations of all biases of the modulator, which supports the ability to generate signals beyond coherent modulation.

The IQTX-40 can be fully controlled remotely with SCPI/VXI11 commands, which means it can be controlled from Matlab, Python, LabView, "or any other environment," Coherent Solutions adds.

The IQTX-40 is commercially available in multiple configurations, including full-dual polarization, emulated dual polarization, and single polarization. It will be demonstrated on the Teledyne LeCroy stand 548 at ECOC 2015.
