JGR Optics Inc. says a new version of its PT5 Polarity Tester is now available. The PT5 Polarity Tester is now capable of testing 72 fiber single-mode and multimode ribbon cables in a single box, and can be expanded up to 432 channels, the company says.

JGR Optics Inc. says a new version of its PT5 Polarity Tester is now available. The PT5 Polarity Tester is now capable of testing 72 fiber single-mode and multimode ribbon cables in a single box, and can be expanded up to 432 channels, the company says.

The PT5 has a simple software package for unlimited custom cable type management capabilities, JGR says. The software delivers Pass/Fail results in seconds for any configuration, including type A, B, C, D, and custom profiles, the company adds.

"The improvements made to the PT5 Polarity Tester can significantly improve throughput in a production environment but, even more critical, provides compatibility to high fiber count cables which are now commonly deployed in data centers," said Mark Berezny, JGR Optics senior product line manager.

Since introducing the Backreflection Meter (BR5) and Multi-Output Backreflection Meter (MBR5), JGR has added the MS12001 Cable Assembly Test System, and an ultra-wide wavelength range Tunable Laser Source (TLS5) to its portfolio. In May, JGR introduced the Environmental Optical Test System (EOTS) to provide a fully integrated approach to long-term insertion loss (IL) and return loss (RL) testing of optical components (see "JGR Optics unveils EOTS Environmental Optical Test System"). The PT5 Polarity Tester is the company's most recent introduction to its growing portfolio.
