JULY 18, 2007 -- Digital Lightwave Inc. (search for Digital Lightwave) says that 40- and 43-Gbit/sec test capability for NIC Platform products will be available in Q4 2007. The new 40/43G testing module will be available in the small and light NIC chassis as well as the larger NIC Plus and NIC EP (rack mount) chassis.

Digital Lightwave asserts the NIC chassis with 40/43G will be smaller and lighter than any available competitive products, measuring 10x12x5 inches and weighing less than 15 pounds. In the NIC Plus and NIC EP chassis, the 40/43G can be combined with other NIC modules to enable testing of all SONET/SDH/OTN rates from 51 Mbits/sec to 43 Gbits/sec with VCAT, LCAS and GFP, Ethernet 10/100/1000BaseT, GigE, 10GigE, and PDH/T-Carrier rates from 1.5 to 140 Mbits/sec in a single chassis.

"The NIC Platform, with its size and weight advantage, is uniquely positioned to be the product of choice for installation and maintenance of 40/43G networks," said Mike Botham, director of engineering for Digital Lightwave. "The NIC was designed from the start with 40-Gbit/sec capability in mind, with a flexible architecture allowing us to provide exactly the features our customers need. Leveraging our proven platform protects our customer's investment and provides all the benefits of the NIC family of test instruments."

The 40/43G module is being introduced to address increasing industry requirements for the highest data rate testing. With portable and rack mount versions available, the NIC platform is designed to provide 40- and 43-Gbit/sec testing for research and development, manufacturing, field turn-up, and ongoing maintenance applications.
