AUGUST 15, 2007 -- Spirent Communications plc (search for Spirent) and EdenTree Technologies (search for EdenTree) have announced a technology partnership and global reseller agreement whereby Spirent will resell EdenTree's software-based lab automation products.

The EdenTree lab management offerings complement and integrates with the Extreme Automation capability delivered with Spirent's testing platform (Spirent TestCenter) the companies say. The combination will significantly reduce testing cost and time-to-market while increasing test coverage, they assert.

Under the terms of the agreement, Spirent's global sales force will resell EdenTree's Lab Manager to network equipment manufacturers, service providers, and enterprises worldwide.

"Manually reconfiguring test-beds is an inefficient use of critical resources," said Rob Piconi, chief operating officer, Spirent Communications. "And decisions on lab capex are often made without clear economic justification. In EdenTree, we recognized a strong alignment with Spirent's strategy to help customers achieve optimal efficiency in deployment of their capital."

EdenTree Lab Manager is a software platform for managing, scheduling, configuring, and tracking network lab resources. It provides a GUI and API for managing an automated physical layer and power switching infrastructure to which test equipment and devices under test are connected.

"We're delighted to be partnering with Spirent," said Jay Oyakawa, CEO of EdenTree Technologies. "Pairing our easy-to-deploy Lab Manager software with Spirent TestCenter Extreme Automation creates a real 1+1=3 equation. Together, these tools enable customers to quickly develop and execute tests in an environment that drives shorter development and deployment cycles."
