Sunrise Telecom has unveiled IntelliSAM, its Carrier Ethernet Service Activation Test Suite based on the ITU Y.1564 standard, formerly known as Y.156sam. Y.1564’s newly enhanced test methodology is specifically written for service activation and is closely tailored to the bandwidth profile parameters being sold, says the company.
Sunrise Telecom’s IntelliSAM is designed to enable service providers to verify and guarantee the exact service configuration and performance delivered to their customers. To truly guarantee service-level agreements (SLAs), says the company, service providers must be able to verify the bursty nature of Ethernet services. IntelliSAM’s committed burst size (CBS) and excess burst size (EBS) tests are the first in the industry to be able to generate bursty traffic in a Carrier Ethernet test suite, Sunrise Telecom asserts.
Sunrise Telecom has designed IntelliSAM to provide service providers with much faster tools for verifying SLAs, as well as provide the ability to test multiple streams and greatly improve latency tests by continuously testing each frame.
Sunrise Telecom says it played a key role in the development of the new Y.1564 standard as a leading contributor in the ITU Study Group. The company says it contributed many of the procedural details to the service configuration and service performance tests, including expansion of the bandwidth profile with the new burst testing algorithm for CBS and EBS modes.
