Fiber-optics test and measurement equipment developer Yenista Optics has appointment Dr David Heard as its sales and marketing manager.

Fiber-optics test and measurement equipment developer Yenista Optics has appointment Dr David Heard as its sales and marketing manager. Heard will be working with Nicephore Nicolas, who also holds the title of sales and marketing manager, to expand worldwide sales and marketing activities.

The two managers will split responsibilities by territory, Heard told Lightwave.

Heard has more than 12 years of experience in fiber-optic test and measurement. He was previously at Santec where he managed that company’s European subsidiary and was responsible for sales and marketing throughout the EMEA region.

Yenista has been producing fiber-optic products for the past 6 years. It added tunable lasers and OEM modules to its test and measurement product line through the acquisition of the former Photonics/Nettest/Anritsu product ranges in 2009. It plans to expand the range further in 2011.

“I am very excited to join Yenista,” Heard said via a press statement. “The company has seen rapid growth since acquiring the Anritsu range of optical test instruments two years ago. The brand dating back to Photonetics is well established in Europe, has a large installed base and an excellent reputation. Yenista really understands the market and is developing new products to support the latest developments in the industry.”

CEO Michiel van der Keur commented, “We have invested heavily in updating the former Anritsu products and in the development of new instruments and have seen significant sales growth throughout 2010. I am pleased to welcome David to our team. He has an excellent technical ability and is well known in the industry. His commercial and technical experience will be invaluable to support our future growth.”
