EXFO Inc. (NASDAQ:EXFO) (TSX:EXF) says that what it termed “a top-tier North American network operator” has selected its Brix end-to-end voice, data, and video monitoring offering to support multiplay services. The same operator also will deploy EXFO products for its DNS response time measurement needs, according to the test and measurement equipment and software provider.

EXFO says several elements of the Brix offering appealed to the customer. For example, the multiplay support of BrixView VoIP and MPLS reporting, as well as RTP and video testing capabilities, were particularly appealing, according to EXFO. Key components were the BrixCall and BrixNGN elements, which cover more than 50 points of presence (PoP) and integrate into the customer's operating support system (OSS), EXFO says.

Meanwhile, the same network operator needed to measure DNS response time across its global network, merge the measurements into their OSS, and present the results to network engineers and planners worldwide. The BrixCall offering provides active verifiers deployed globally for monitoring, as well as support for existing IPv4 DNS clusters and new IPv6 DNS servers, according to EXFO.

"These wins are the result of our ability to support true multiplay, as well as our continued efforts to ensure that our solution is customized for seamless integration into our customer's OSS. This, along with our proactive monitoring capabilities, explains why EXFO was chosen by our customer for end-to-end voice, data and video performance monitoring", said Vivian Hudson, vice-president of EXFO's Service Assurance Division. "Customization and OSS integration were also key in securing the DNS response time contract."
